Setting up your dialup networking - Windows 2000?
Setting up your dial-up networking is easy. We've created these step-by-step instructions to make it even easier.

To correctly set up your dial-up networking in Windows 2000 Professional, follow the steps below:

STEP 1

Click the Start button, click Settings, and choose Control Panel

STEP 2

Double-click the Network and Dial-up Connections icon.

STEP 3

Double-click the Make New Connection icon.

STEP 4

Click the Next button.

STEP 5

Select Dial-up to the Internet.

STEP 6

Click the Next button.

STEP 7

Select I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN).

STEP 8

Click the Next button.

STEP 9

Select I connect through a phone line and a modem.

STEP 10

Click the Next button.

STEP 11

In the Area Code field, type the area code of your local access number.

STEP 12

In the Telephone number field, type your local access number.

STEP 13

Click the Advanced button.

STEP 14

Click on the Connection tab.

STEP 15

Click the PPP (Point to Point Protocol) radio button in the Connection type area.

STEP 16

Check the box next to Disable LCP Extensions.

STEP 17

Click the None radio button in the Logon procedure area.

STEP 18

Click on the Addresses tab.

STEP 19

Click the Always use the following radio button in the DNS server address area.

STEP 20

In the Primary DNS server field, type 63.85.211.15

STEP 21

In the Alternate DNS server field, type 63.85.211.20

STEP 22

Click the OK button.

Click the Next button.

STEP 24

In the User name field, type your CWS Internet username.

STEP 25

In the Password field, type your CWS Internet password.

STEP 26

Click the Next button.

In the Connection Name field, type CWS Internet.

Click the Next button.

Click the Yes radio button in the Do you want to set up an Internet mail account now area.

STEP 30

Click the Next button.

In the Display Name field, type your name.

Click the Next button.

In the E-mail address field, type your email address.

Click the Next button.

Click the down arrow on the My incoming mail server is a __ server drop-down list and choose POP3.

STEP 36

In the Incoming mail (POP3) server field, type cwsmail.com

STEP 37

In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field, type smtp.cwsmail.com

STEP 38

Click the Next button.

STEP 39

In the Account name field, type your CWS Internet username.

STEP 40

In the Password field, type your CWS Internet password.

STEP 41

Check the box next to Remember password if you would like to have your password saved.

STEP 42

Click the Next button.

STEP 43

Check the box next to To connect to the Internet immediately... if you would like to connect right away to the Internet.

STEP 44

Click the Finish button.

Congratulations! You have successfully set up your dialup Internet access and are now ready to connect to the Internet.
